Tyson exhibition gets mixed reviews

Mike Tyson EX4 Corey Sanders... A decade ago, no self-respecting boxing fan would miss a Mike Tyson fight. Last night, the 40-year old Tyson fought an exhibition bout in Youngstown, Ohio in front of about 4000 fans. The reviews for the event were mixed. Tyson picked a decent opponent who was in reasonable boxing shape, Corey Sanders, and it seemed like Tyson could have knocked Sanders out in the first round, but he elected to carry him so that the fans could get some action for their money. On the other hand, the four rounds were shortened to two and a half minutes instead of the normal three minutes, and reports had Tyson gasping for air even with the shortened distance. Tyson wore a t-shirt in the ring, while Sanders wore a t-shirt and headgear. The fighters wore larger than normal gloves, so the knockdown showed Tyson still packs power, and the Associated Press reports that fans booed the action, or lack of action after the Tyson's initial flurry. Tyson did not attend the post-fight press conference. source: associated press
