Two punches... four knockdowns!

By Scott Shaffer

2005 has a new leader for knockout of the year honors. In an action packed 22 seconds, Sechew Powell knocked out Cornelius Bundrage in a battle of undefeated junior middleweights at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. He threw only two punches in the entire bout.  As the boxers met in the middle of the ring to start the bout, both threw punches that landed simultaneously and caused a double knockout. However, the referee didn't make any call and both men scrambled to their feet. The very next punch thrown by Powell was a straight left that landed right on the button. Bundrage immediately went down and got up, still reeling from the effects of the punch. As he tried to steady himself, Bundrage's legs gave out and he fell to the canvas two more times, leaving the referee no choice but to stop the bout. Immediately afterwards, Bundrage was not aware that he had been knocked out, indicating that Powell's two punches gave him a concussion. Powell's pro record is now 16-0, and Bundrage is 21-1. source: ShoBox on Showtime.
