Guillermo Jones TKO10 Firat Arslan... A former junior middleweight claimed the WBA 200-pound title in Hamburg, Germany tonight. Guillermo Jones stopped Firat Arslan in the tenth round to take Arslan's cruiserweight title. The fight was stopped with 27 seconds left in the tenth. The 36-year-old Panamanian was the mandatory challenger even though he hadn't had a serious fight since beating Wayne Braithwaite in 2005. He improved to 36-3-2. This was Jones' fourth world title bid, and many thought he deserved a share of the junior middleweight crown in 1998, when he went 0-1-1 against Laurent Bouduani. Arslan, who turned 38 during the fight as it went past midnight, dropped to 29-4-1. He was bleeding heavily from the lip and nose and had to be taken to a hospital to have his injuries examined.
