Twitter chatter: Andrew Moloney says Joshua Franco rematch is set

Australian super flyweight Andrew Moloney tweeted that he will have a rematch against the man who punished him badly last week, Joshua Franco. He tweeted: "I’m extremely excited to announce that I will be having a rematch with Joshua Franco. I want to say a huge thanks to [my promoter] Bob Arum and the Top Rank boxing team for giving me this opportunity. I worked my whole life to get that [WBA regular] title and I’m now hungrier than ever to get it back!"

In the fight, Franco (17-1-2, 8 KOs) dealt Australia's Andrew Moloney (21-1, 14 KOs) his first pro loss via unanimous, punishing decision. Official scores were 115-112 and 114-113 (twice). Franco dominated down the stretch, cut Moloney in round ten, knocked him down in the eleventh and swept the twelfth on all three judges' cards.

[Note: Roman Gonzalez holds the full WBA title in the weight division].

Moloney was making his American debut. “It just wasn’t my night tonight," Moloney said. "This was not the best version of Andrew Moloney, but full credit to Joshua Franco. He deserved to win the title with his effort. He closed the fight strong, like a true champion. I’ll be back. One loss won’t define me.”
