The WBO has granted sanction approval for Tim Tszyu to defnd his WBO interim junior middleweight title against Carlos Ocampo of Mexico on Sunday, June 18th at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia. With world champion Jermell Charlo delaying a fight against Tszyu due to injury, the WBO allowed Tszyu an optional fight subject to the provision that the Tszyu-Ocampo winner must remain available face the WBO junior middleweight champion [Charlo] no later than September 30th, with no intervening bouts. Tszyu is 22-0 and won the interim title in his last bout, a star-making turn over former WBC title holder Tony Harrison. Ocampo is 34-2 and is coming off a loss to Sebastian Fundora in October. Ocampo's other loss was a failed welterweight title bid vs. Errol Spence Jr.
