Triple Title bill approaches: WEC weigh in report

PRESS RELEASE: With three championship bouts and eleven matches on tap, all fighters made weight Friday afternoon at the weigh-ins for World Extreme Cagefighting card, which kicks off tomorrow night in Las Vegas.

Hitting the scales at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the tension of championship stakes was palpable in the air. In the main event, welterweights John Alessio tackles Carlos Condit for the vacant WEC title. It should be a compelling scrap, given the impressive form both have shown in recent bouts.

Featherweight boss Urijah Faber looks to make his second title defense against unbeaten Dominic Cruz, after scoring a punishing two and a half minute stoppage in his last outing Jan. 20.  At 17-1, Faber is quickly establishing himself as one of the eminent fighters in the world under 155 pounds, but Cruz, 9-0, intends to keep his perfect record, and take Faber’s belt back to his hometown of San Diego.

Bantamweight champ Eddie Wineland is looking to turn back Chase Beebe and keep his belt

Vacant WEC welterweight title. Also fighting are established names like Joe Riggs, who faces experienced Hiromitsu Miura, veteran Tiki Ghosn, unbeaten up and comers Erik Apple, Jesse Moreng and more, with five bouts in the often-overlooked 145 and 135-pound divisions.
