James Ahern: Trinidad By KO "Cory Spinks is a solid 154 pound champion, he was a great welterweight, but doesn't impress junior middleweight and once Trinidad starts putting some punches together it will only become a matter of time before he catches Spinks with something heavy."
Brad Cooney:
Cory Spinks by decision: He's been a lot more active and I think Trinidad has already been out of boxing too long to come back and defeat somebody like Spinks. Spinks is younger, faster and will definitely win a decision over the older, slower Trinidad.
Matthew Goldstein: Trinidad by KO.Darren Nichols: Trinidad by Ko: Trinidad has one punch KO power, I think Trinidad would be ready for the fight and I haven't been too impressed with Cory in his last couple of fights.
Â
James Alden: Trinidad by KO: Too big, too strong. Cory is a tough boxer to hit but Trinidad would eventually catch him since he doesn't defend himself as well as Winky does. Could be like another David Reid fight, where the underdog is doing well until he gets caught.
Greg Leon: Trinidad by Stoppage: As cool as I am with Cory, I can't see him besting Trinidad in his middleweight debut. Cory told me the blueprint that Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright "put down, ain't hard to follow", but I don't seem him successfully flustering Tito for twelve rounds like fellow southpaw Winky Wright was able to. At 160 Cory's jab isn't going to be stiff enough to earn Trinidad's respect. Wright was a lifelong junior middle, and a big one at that before he fought Trinidad, Spinks is not.
Â
Hector Linares: Spinks by unanimous decision. Felix 'Tito' Trinidad is one of the most devastating punchers in the history of boxing, but he's so one dimensional that a good pure boxer like Cory Spinks should be able to expose his flaws ala Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright. Tito was successful following a long layoff against toughman Ricardo Mayorga, don't expect him to have the same luck with a slick left hander like Spinks.
Â
Ben Thompson: Trinidad by late TKO If Cory stopped dancing into the ring maybe he wouldn't fade down the stretch, which would give him a much better chance against Trinidad. But he fights the championship rounds against Trinidad like he fought Karmazin, he's going to get knocked out.
James Johnson (boxing trainer): Spinks by decision: "Trinidad is a strong and he's a big puncher and all that, but that's not going to mean nothing against Cory. He's going to be looking left and Cory's going to be right, he's going to have Tito confused like Winky Wright did and walk away with the decision.
