Young heavyweight Travis Kauffman will almost certainly have to put his career on hold for a few years. The Reading Eagle reports that the 10-0 heavyweight pleaded guilty to having sex with a 12 year old and now faces five years or more in prison. According to the published report, the incident occured in 2005, meaning Kauffman would have been 19 at the time. Kauffman's lawyer said that the incident did not involve violence, threats or compulsion. Under the law, however, a 12 year old cannot legally consent to sexual activity, even if she was a willing participant. Kauffman, managed and trained by his father Marshall, will not be sentenced for a few months, so he may have time for one or two more bouts.
