Toney camp files protest!

According to the Los Angeles Times, James Toney has filed a protest with the WBC asking for an immediate rematch against Hasim Rahman for the sanctioning boy's heavyweight championship. The two fought to a majority draw last Saturday in Atlantic City. Although the majority opinion is that Rahman deserved the win, Punchstat's computation of punches landed were close (Rahman was credited with a 16 punch edge), and Toney is now claiming that some of the blows landed by Rahman were illegal. Toney's promoter Dan Goossen said Rahman landed more than 200 illegal blows, primarily to Toney's left kidney area, a staggering total that amounts to more than half of Rahman's punches landed. Goossen reports that Toney's left kidney is inflamed as a result of the blows. The referee did issue one warning to Rahman late in the bout
