Apparently Mark John Yap was unable to shut his yap... at the dinner table. The Miguel Marriaga-Mark John Yap main event, contracted for 128 pounds, was canceled by Top Rank after Yap weighed in at 136.7 pounds. Felix Verdejo vs. Will Madera has been elevated to main event status, and the card will proceed as scheduled. Coverage begins live on ESPN & ESPN Deportes tomorrow beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. That makes four straight main events that have not gone as planned for Top Rank: Yap's weight gain; Jamel Herring's positive coronavirus test; Jarrell Miller's positive PED test and Ivan Baranchyk's injury. Top Rank must be give a tremendous amount of credit for keeping these shows going despite all of this (and additional) adversity.
