Tommy Hearns scores TKO at age 47

Thomas Hearns TKO10 Shannon Landberg... Thomas Hearns, at age 47, headlined a show in his native Michigan on the eve of the Super Bowl, and came away with a tenth-round technical knockout over Shannon Landberg, age 40. Hearns improved as the rounds went on, showing he was well conditioned, and nearly ended the bout in the ninth, before getting the stoppage less than a minute before the final bell. Hearns is now 61-5-1 over an amazing pro career that dates back to 1977. Landberg, 58-11-3 had won five in a row but had been retired since 2003. On the same show, Hearn' son Ronald improved to 8-0 by stopping Kirk Douglas in the second round. Last week, Thomas Hearns pleaded no contest to battering a younger son.  Attendance was reported at a robust 15,000. source: Detroit News

Marcelo Dominguez W10 Mariano Ocampo... In Argentina, ex-world cruiserweight titlist Marcelo Dominguez retained his country's heavyweight championship with a points win over Mariano Ocampo. Scores under the system used in Argentina were 99-95, 98.5-94.5 and 97.5-95. The 36-year old Dominguez, who used his boxing skills to give Nicolay Valuev fits when losing a decision to the current WBA heavwyeight titleholder back in 2004, improves to 40-6-1. He reigned as the WBC cruiserweight champion from 1995 through 1997. Ocampo is now 11-7. source: boxeo-boxing
