Tommy Frank wins long-vacant British flyweight title

Tommy Frank W12 Matt Windle ... Tommy Frank and Matt Windle treated a vociferous crowd at Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield, England to a twelve-round war, that saw local man Frank (14-2) become the first fighter from the Steel City to win the British flyweight crown. A distance fight didn’t look likely after Windle (6-4-1) was down in round two from a solid right hand, but the Birmingham man showed the mettle he is known for, got back up and battled back. Both men had success in a see-saw contest, but Windle appeared just too small to dent Frank, who won via a unanimous winner on all three judges' cards. The British 112-pound title had been vacant for five years.
