Dainier Pero TKO3 Aleem Whitfield ... Cuban heavyweight Dainier Pero (14-0, 11 KOs) continued his climb with a third-round stoppage of Aleem Whitfield (10-2, 6 KOs) this past Saturday at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The scheduled ten-round bout aired live on ESPN+. Pero broke down Whitfield with a combination of speed, precision and power. By the third round, Whitfield had absorbed enough punishment, prompting the referee to intervene and wave off the contest, saving the challenger from further damage. 

 

Pero expressed satisfaction with the victory but made it clear that his journey is far from complete. "I'm grateful for the victory and thankful to my team for preparing me the way they always do," said Pero. "Aleem Whitfield came to fight and showed a lot of heart, so I give him credit for stepping into the ring with me. My goal was to stay disciplined, follow the game plan, and let everything develop naturally. Once I started finding my rhythm, I knew the stoppage would come. Every fight is another opportunity to grow, and I believe I showed that I'm improving every time I step into the ring."

 

The undefeated Cuban is now setting his sights on the division's elite and hopes his next assignment comes against a true contender. "I want to challenge myself against the best heavyweights in the world," said Pero. "If the opportunity comes, I'd love to face someone ranked in the top five of the WBA. Those are the fights that prove where you belong, and I believe I'm ready for that level. I respect everyone in the division, but I didn't get into boxing to avoid tough fights. I came to the United States to become a world champion and make history for Cuba."
