Thompson Boxing to honor Victor Burgos

Press Release: On Saturday, March 15, 2008 Thompson Boxing Promotions will feature a special private event at the Doubletree Hotel in Orange County, California. Expected to be in attendance on this special night will be  WBC super bantamweight champion, Israel "Magnifico" Vazquez, fresh from his amazing victory over Rafael Marquez in a bout that capped off one of the greatest trilogies in boxing history. The night will also see Thompson Boxing Promotions make a donation to former world champion Victor "El Acorazado" Burgos, who was forced from the sport in March of 2007 after undergoing brain surgery following his defeat against Vic Darchinyan. In the main event of this special night, unbeaten rising star Juan Carlos Burgos (16-0, 13 KOs) will look to add another win to his perfect record as he takes on Mexico City's Miguel Angel Munguia (16-9-1, 13 KOs) in an eight-round featherweight bout. This fight has more added meaning since it is coming on the night where tribute will be paid to Juan Carlos' uncle, Victor Burgos. Heavyweight Hermann Binek (7-0, 6 KOs) travels from his home of Berchtesgaden, Germany to engage in a six round contest against Alvaro Morales (1-0-3). Tickets and tables for "Night of Champions" are sold out.
