The reign of King Arthur continues

Abraham Takes Out Gevor In 11

Arthur Abraham KO11 Khoren Gevor... In an important middleweight battle in Berlin, battle-hardened Arthur Abraham retained his IBF title with an eleventh-round knockout of Khoren Gevor. Abraham, who once defended his title with a broken jaw, landed a strong flurry late in the eighth round that nearly knocked Gevor down. He continued the assault over the next two rounds before finally flooring Gevor for good with a left hook in the eleventh. Abraham in now 24-0, including 6-0 in world title contests, while Gevor is a still viable 27-3. Though both men are based in Germany, this was believed to be the first world title fight between two Armenian-born boxers. The bout, an IBF mandatory defense, was of great interest in Germany not only because two of the world's top ten 160-pounders were facing each other, but also because the bout pitted the country's two most accomplished trainers and two most powerful promotional companies against each other. In the battle of the trainers, Abraham's coach Ulli Wegner prevailed over Frtiz Sdunek while amongst the promotional rivals, Sauerland Event denied Universum the opportunity to add a new champion to its stable.  source: yahoo! sports
