The Pride of Providence Pummeled

Sakio Bika TKO3 Peter Manfredo... In Providence, Rhode Island, Peter Manfredo Jr., of The Contender fame was stopped at 1:50 of the third round by Sakio Bika (27-3-2, 17 KOs), another alumnus of the reality show.  The fight was a rout from the beginning as Bika landed the crisper punches and outworked Manfredo by nearly tripling the amount of punches thrown by the loser.

Manfredo (31-6 16 KOs) was credited with a questionable knockdown in the the second round that looked like it happened because of both fighter's feet being tangled.  Besides that knockdown, highlights for Manfredo were few and far between.

Bika opened the third round guns blazing, throwing power punch after power punch.  Manfredo did very little besides hold his gloves up as he made the mistake of leaning against the ropes.  He left referee Ricky Gonzalez little choice but to stop the fight.  Manfredo was clearly hurt and cannot use an early stoppage as an excuse, like he did in his last loss to Joe Calzaghe.

The crowd was upset as they wanted to see the hometown hero put on a good show but it just wasn't to be.  Before the TKO was announced the crowd starting throwing stuff in the ring and had to be warned by the ring announcer.
