The Boxingtalk Scoreboard: Makhoba gets quality win over Paradero

Gcina Makhoba W12 Robert Paradero... After a twelve exciting rounds in Dundee, South Africa, Gcina Makhoba was declared the winner of his super flyweight bout on Saturday, defeating Filipino Robert Paradero. Makhoba started poorly as Paradero silenced the patriotic crowd by dropping Makhoba with a big right hand inside the first minute. However, the local man came back strong and returned the favor, flooring the visitor to even things up. The action continued in round two, with both men landing hard punches, and in round three Makhoba scored another knockdown to edge in front. From that point on, both men stayed on their feet, but the back-and-forth continued for nine more brutal rounds. When it was over, judges Edward Marshall and Pumeza Zinakile scored it 116-111, while judge Sipho Zondo had it 117-112, all for Makhoba, who improved his professional record to 9-1-1. Paradero, who previously lost two bids for WBA titles, drops to 18-4-1.

Michaela Kotaskova D10 Mahjouba Oubtil... Also on Saturday night, in Vienna, Austria, a women's welterweight fight between Italian-based Michaela Kotaskova (2-0-2) and Mahjouba Oubtil (4-2-1) ended in a majority draw. After a very even fight, judges Rainer Schwarz and Gerhard Sigl scored it five rounds each, 95-95, overruling the 96-94 score for the Austrian-based Kotaskova from judge Norbert Duernberger.
