Thanderz wins in Norway via split decision

Katharina Thanderz W10 Danila Ramos... Norway's Katharina Thanderz (13-0, 2 KOs) prevailed in a bloody battle with Danila Ramos (8-2, 1 KO) last night in her nation's capital city, Oslo, to claim the WBC interim title at super featherweight. In a fast-paced and exciting affair, Thanderz had to withstand some early pressure from the Brazilian Ramos, who started strongly, but was able to find her rhythm and land the more decisive shots as the fight progressed In a dramatic final round, blood poured down Thanderz’s face following a clash of heads, which saw Ramos deducted a point by the referee, and after the final bell, Thanderz was awarded a split decision win (97-93, 96-93 and 93-95). Finland's Eva Wahlstrom (22-1-2) holds the primary WBC super featherweight championship.

Thanderz follows in the footsteps of current world welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus and former WBO cruiserweight champion Magne Havnaa.  “I am very happy to get the victory,” said Thanderz. “It was a war from the start to the finish. I couldn’t really see anything in the last round but I knew I had to give it my all. To win [an interim] title feels completely indescribable.” source: sauerland event
