Team Haye: Warren's insistence on options is killing Maccarinelli-Haye

Haye says it was Warren who changed the offer

Press Release: With regards to the British super fight between cruiserweights David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli, Team Haye would like to confirm that at no time did they made any extra demands for the fight that all of Britain wanted to see. From the commencement of negotiations, this fight was always a one fight deal when Team Haye offered Enzo Maccarinelli a "one off" fight on Sky television in April against David Haye. This offer was declined by Sports Network, who issued a counter offer by fax on December 21, 2006 for the fight to take place on a Sports Network Show on ITV. Team Haye’s promoter then negotiated with Sky TV for a "one fight" release to box Enzo Maccarinelli, on a rival TV Station, on a rival promoters' show, as everyone could see what a superb fight this would be and a great advertisement for British Boxing. This offer from Sports Network was then accepted by Team Haye for a purse less than originally requested, plus no options. Unfortunately, a Sports Network representative then said that ITV were not willing to do a one fight deal and that they wanted various options on David Haye.  Team Haye find this unbelievable as TV companies are in the business of ratings, not building fighters. Knowledgeable boxing insiders consider Haye vs. Maccarinelli to be the biggest and best domestic fight of 2007 and Team Haye are willing to accept the terms of the original offer that was faxed to them in December and fight Enzo Maccarinelli in a "one off fight" on  April 7th in Cardiff to keep the dream fight alive.
