Tanaka passes away after title bout

Boxingtalk joins the Japanese boxing community in mourning the death of Seiji Tanaka, who lost his Japanese championship, and more importantly, his life after a technical knockout loss in Japan last week. Tanaka was the reigning domestic champion in the 115-pound category, an extremely deep and talented weight class in Japan, until he was stopped by Nobuo Nashiro at IMP Hall in Osaka.  The 28 year old fell unconscious in the dressing room, underwent brain surgery four days later and passed away on Friday. This website sends its sympathies to the friends and family of this champion who literally gave his life in defense of his title.  source: Japan Today
