Takayama new WBC 105 pound champ

According to news agency AFP, Katsunari Takayama of Japan is the new WBC strawweight title, winning by  unanimous decision over champion Isaac Bustos in Japan. The official scores were 115-113, 117-112 and 117-111.  Bustos bled from the nose in the second round.  Takayama, who entered the bout rated #25 in the Boxingtalk ratings, improved his record to 15-1. Bustos, rated #4 by Boxingtalk, dropped to 24-7-3. He won the title last year when Eagle Akakura injured his shoulder. On the undercard, the a website devoted to Manny Pacquiao reports that Philippino Rodel Mayol, probably the #2 pound-for-pound boxer in his country, domianted Takayuki Korogi to retain the OPBF title. Fighting a Japanese boxer in Japan, Mayol won every round on all three cards. He is now 21-0 and rated #7 by Boxingtalk.
