Sycuan stars ascend in WBC rankings!

PRESS RELEASE: Sycuan Ringside Promotion boxers Carlos Baldomir and Joan Guzman have advanced in the World Boxing Council ratings.Baldomir is now the WBC’s No.1 welterweight while Guzman is that sanctioning body’s No. 6 featherweight. “We’re delighted to we have two boxers ranked by the World Boxing Council,” said Glenn Quiroga, president of Sycuan Ringside Promotions of San Diego. Baldomir, originally from Santa Fe, Argentina, hometown of the legendary Carlos Monzon, is the mandatory challenger for WBC welterweight champion Zab Judah. The 34-year-old Baldomir, now living in Los Angeles, has a record of 41-9-6 with 12 knockouts and has a mark of 17-0-2 for his past 19 bouts dating back to 1998.

The undefeated Guzman, the former World Boxing Organization junior featherweight champion before voluntarily relinquishing that title in order to move up to a weight division in which he is more comfortable, has a record of 24-0 with 17 knockouts.

The 29-year-old Guzman, from the Dominican Republic, was the WBO junior featherweight champion from 2002 until earlier this year and is now that sanctioning body’s No. 1 featherweight contender.

Sycuan Ringside Promotions is considered to be the fastest-growing and most dynamic promotional entity in the sport.  Sycuan Ringside Promotions made its promotional debut during 2004, but already has or had four world champions and has promoted and presented world title bouts on premium cable networks.
