Sycuan Ringside Promotions (SRP) of San Diego today was granted a promoter’s license for the state of Nevada by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, thus becoming the first non-Nevada tribal group to be licensed in the state.

 

            Since making its promotional debut in 2004, SRP already has six current or former world champions.  In addition, SRP has promoted and presented world title bouts across the country on premium cable networks. 

 

            SRP currently is in the middle of co-promoting its seventh world title bout of 2006 as Carlos Baldomir defends his World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Saturday, Nov. 4, from Mandalay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

 

            “We are honored and thrilled that the Nevada State Athletic Commission has granted the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation a license to promote in their great state,” said Sycuan Ringside Promotions President Glenn Quiroga. “We look forward to working with the Commission in staging great boxing events in the future in Nevada.”

 

            “This is another first for Sycuan,” said SRP Vice-President Scott Woodworth.  “This is the first license granted to a tribal owned and operated group outside the state of Nevada.”
