On September 7th, the IBF ordered Artur Subhankulov of Russia and Andy Cruz of Cuba to begin negotiations for the vacant IBF lightweight championship. The previous champion, Raymond Muratalla, has vacated the title. Subhankulov's record is most accurately described as 15-3 if you include the World Series of Boxing and IBA Pro bouts. Cruz's record is best described as 23-1 if you include the World Series of Boxing. Cruz's one loss came against Muratalla, but Cruz bounced back with a win over Abraham Montoya in July. An agreement between the boxers' representatives was not reached within the timeframe set forth by the IBF, so a purse bid has been scheduled for October 20th.
