Strohl-Calloway May 14!

PRESS RELEASE: Lion Heart Boxing Productions, Ltd. announces today that its show  “A Night of the Heavies,” just got better with the replacement of Willie Chapman by Jim Strohl (27-3).  A Night of the Heavies is a heavyweight-laden card featuring five Heavyweight fights and two Cruiserweight fights.  The fight is being held at the Delta Center, home of the Utah Jazz, in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 14, 2005.

In the Main Event, seven-time Champion and Heavyweight Contender Rob “All-American” Calloway (58-5) will face Jim Strohl of Decatur, Illinois (27-3) in a twelve round title fight for the North American Boxing Council Heavyweight title.

Rob Calloway has had on a serious schedule in 2005, racking up three wins year to date.  Calloway plans to remain busy for the rest of the year and hopes for a title shot against one of the top contenders and/or major titleholders in the heavyweight division.  Calloway has called out Iron Mike Tyson several times in the last year, all to no avail.  Calloway is the current World Boxing Federation (WBF) Continental Champion and is scheduled to fight for the WBF World title on June 24, 2005, against Bob Mirovic in Australia.  First, Calloway must go through Strohl an experienced veteran on thirty fights with only three losses, and losses to only the best in the division.

The co-Main Event features former cruiserweight champion Arthur Williams (40-12) against young up and coming sensation Danny “Danny Boy” Batchelder (21-1).  Also, in the feature bout, local Cruiserweight favorite and WBC Continental Champion Gary Gomez (14-4) goes up against Charles Davis (15-8) in a grudge match and rematch of their amateur fight, in which Gomez scored a controversial decision.

The Undercard is filled with several top fighters, Heavyweight Contenders Gary Bell (23-3), Nicolai Firtha (6-1) and James Walton (19-6).  Also, Lion Heart Boxing Promotions’ own Elliott Forman will have his much-awaited Pro Debut.

Willie Chapman was replaced by Jim Strohl because Chapman failed to sign his contract and was demanding more money and better terms than he agreed to before the Utah Athletic Commission.
