Reports have been circulating that Steve "USS" Cunningham will face Guillermo Jones in a rematch, this time for the vacant IBF cruiserweight title in the co-feature to Roman Karmazin's IBF junior middleweight title defense against Cory Spinks in St. Louis on July 8, 2006. In April of 2005, Cunningham defeated Jones in a hard-fought split decision. Now, the rematch will reportedly be on the televised portion of the Showtime undercard. Cunningham-Jones II was originally scheduled to take place on the undercard of Rivera-Garcia but due to contractual disputes, the fight was cancelled. The vacant IBF title was stripped from legitimate world champion O'Neil Bell when the undisputed cruiserweight champion for failing to agree to terms for a mandatory defense against Cunningham.
