Stark delayed by snowstorm

Must get from NY to Oklahoma

Press Release: While three of  DiBella Entertainment’s highly-touted youngsters – Paulie Malignaggi, Sechew Powell, and Andre Berto – get ready for the New York and HBO spotlight on “Triple Play at the Hammerstein,” a fourth DBE plum – undefeated Gary Stark, Jr. of Staten Island – takes to the national stage, as well. On Friday night (February 16, 2007), the super bantamweight will be at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma when he squares off against Mike Oliver (17-0, 7 KOs) for a regional 122-pound title on ShoBox: The New Generation at 11:00 PM/ET. Now, Stark (18-0, 8 KOs) must escape Kennedy Airport, where he has been snowbound since Wednesday afternoon. The unbeaten dynamo hopes to be on a late morning flight that would take him to Tulsa by way of Cincinnati.  “This is the biggest fight of my career,” said Stark. “I trained hard in the cold weather in the Poconos. It was a great camp; I am not going to let the opportunity pass me by. My opponent has fast hands, and is a skilled fighter,” added the Kid. “I am going to win this with defense, heart and determination. If I stick to my game plan, I win. I have trained too hard not to win this fight.” Stark is hopeful that the flight delays won’t hurt his performance in the ring.  “Adversity makes you stronger, if I get there,” said Stark.
