Star Boxing invades Westchester on Oct. 11

Press Release: "Contender" star Joey Gilbert (12-1, 9 KOs) will headline a Star Boxing event on October 11, 2006 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York. Gilbert, a practicing lawyer and corporate exec, will attempt another “hostile takeover” in the ring, this time in a regional middleweight title fight against Keith Sims (25-12-1, 14 KOs). In the co-feature, 1996 Olympic Bronze Medalist Terrence Cauthen (31-3, 8 KOs) will challenge Raul Frank (27-5-2, 13 KOs) in a twelve-round junior middleweight bout.   “We’re proud to be able to bring such high-quality shows to our home state of New York and we know the fans in attendance will enjoy this exciting night of top-level professional boxing,” said promoter Joe DeGuardia. "The card has something for everyone, as the female and non-traditional fans will be there in support of Joey Gilbert and the purists will be right up there for the exciting co-feature between the brawler Frank and the boxer Cauthen in the USBA title fight." The undercard will feature “Kosovo Kid” Elvir Muriqi (31-3, 19 KOs), who will face Ted Muller (19-7-2, 19 KOs) in an eight-round light heavyweight scrap.  Also scheduled are heavyweight prospect Kevin Johnson (10-0-1, 5 KOs), Hervey Medina (6-0-1, 2 KOs), Tony Grano (4-0-1, 4 KOs); and former Olympian Roberto Benitez (4-0, 3 KOs).
