It has been a busy first half of the summer for Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and the action continues in July and August. Star Boxing promoted three nationally televised shows in the span of four days between June 7 and June 10 that culminated in one of the biggest pay-per-view events of the year, “Fight to the Finish”, Antonio Tarver's defeat against Bernard Hopkins in a historic match for the light heavyweight championship of the world..
The action begins on Friday July, 28 at the Monticello Raceway in Monticello, New York as Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing presents the main event in association with Bob Duffy’s Ring Promotions. The action packed show will have local favorite, Elvir “Kosovo Kid” Muriqi (30-3, 19 KOs) taking on Marlon Hayes (22-3, 11 KOs) in the light Heavyweight feature fight of the night.
The co-feature will pit Star Boxing’s exciting prospect Hervey Medina (5-0-1, 2 KOs) Against Mario Hayes (2-1) in a Jr. Welterweight bout
Then, on August 12 in Marksville, Louisiana former WBA featherweight champion, Derrick “Smoke” Gainer (39-7-1, 24 KOs) looks to catapult himself back in the world ratings as he takes on Giovanni Andrade (51-9, 41 KOs) for a regional title at 130 pounds. That bout will take place at the Paragon Casino and will be promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing in association with Rivas Warriors Boxing.

The co-feature fight is also excpected to be a barn-burner, as Star Boxing’s undefeated Heavyweight Malachy Farrell (14-0, 11 KO’s) battles local puncher Shannon Miller (14-1, 8 KO’s).
“I am excited to be back in the queen city of Saratoga, one of the most beautiful places in the country” said DeGuardia.
