Argenis Mendez W8 Jorge Ruiz... Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing hosted another night of fights at the Utopia Paradise Theater in the Bronx last Friday night. The semi final eight rounder saw distinguished former amateur Argenis Mendez improve to 9-0 with a junior lightweight victory over a game Jorge Ruiz, 5-3-1.  Mendez controlled the action dropping his opponent three times but Ruiz gamely hung in there to hear the final bell. Mendez won by a very wide decision.

Kevin Johnson W6 Andrew Greeley... Star Boxing's  heavyweight Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson, improved his record to 17-0-1 with a shutout victory over Andrew Greeley 13-9-2. Johnson displayed a quick jab and worked the body with precise and hard combinations.

Francisco Lorenzo W10 Guadalupe Rosales... In the main event, junior lightweights Francisco Lorenzo and Guadalupe Rosales waged war with the fight still on the line entering the tenth round. The veteran Lorenzo defeated the WBC-ranked but untested Rosales, by scores of 96-94 (twice) and 97-93. Lorenzo improves his record to 30-4 with 14 KOs and Rosales drops to 25-2 with 15 KOs.

Vaughn Parham KO3 Doug Jewel... Heavyweight Vaughn Parham 3-1, 3 KOs, rebounded from a knockout loss in his last fight with a knockout of Doug Jewel, 0-2 in a scheduled four round bout. After two competitive rounds, Parham closed the show with a one-punch uppercut midway through the third round.

Nagy Aguila W4 Elfair McKnight... Newburgh, NY, heavyweight Nagy Aguilar improved to 4-0 with a unanimous four-round decision win over an ever-trying Elfair McKnight, 2-7-2. Aguilar had McKnight down twice.

Jorge Diaz TKO4 Anolan Rigan... Opening the show was debuting bantamweight Jorge Diaz who showed good hand speed and flashy combinations taking out Anolan Rigal, 1-2-1, 2:53 into the fourth round.

Mike Ruiz KO2 Henry White.. Mike Ruiz, 5-2 scored the knockout of the night, a right to the chin of Henry White, 2-2, which dropped White flat on his back. The referee immediately called a halt in the second round of the scheduled four round welterweight bout.

Jonas Hernandez W4 Leivi Brea.. Featherweight Jonas Hernandez improved to 8-1 with a four-round split decision over Leivi Brea, 16-6. The scores were 39-37 in favor of Brea and 40-36 and 39-37 in favor of Hernandez.

Joseph Llovet W4 Bobby Campbell... Lightweight Joseph Llovet, 2-1, won a spirited unanimous decision victory over Bobby Campbell 2-5-2. All three judges scored the bout 40-36.
