The teams of Eimantas Stanionis (pictured) and Shakhram Giyasov informed the WBA Championships Committee that they have reached an agreement for a mandatory title fight in the welterweight division. As a result, the purse bid scheduled for Tuesday afternoon was officially suspended. The contracts and details about the fight between Stanionis, the WBA welterweight champion and Giyasov, the WBA mandatory challenger, were not yet revealed. The welterweight division remains fractured since world champion Terence Crawford moved up to junior middleweight. The current champions are Stanionis (WBA), Jaron "Boots" Ennis (IBF), Mario Barrios (WBC) and Brian Norman (WBO). Stanionis, from Lithuania, was elevated from WBA interim champion to WBA champion when Crawford moved up in weight.
Giyasov is from Uzbekistan and has apro record of 17-3 including the World Series of Boxing. He is on a run of four quality wins since 2022.
