Sportscenter Highlights of Pavlik-Taylor II Show No Punches Landing!

How Can Boxing be Marketed When it looks Like Nothing Happens?

This has been going on for years and it is exactly why boxing is in its’ current state; inaccessibility.  HBO apparently refuses to release to ESPN or any news outlet the real highlights of Pavlik-Taylor II.  Rather than understanding that Sportscenter and other highlight shows are a huge opportunity to market their product, it seems like the highlights are being withheld because of the delayed broadcast. Why would anyone watch the replay if they think that nothing happened during the fight? The Pavlik-Taylor rematch was a good fight with a lot of huge shots landing, but yet, the highlights that Sportscenter was allowed to run showed absolutely no punches land.  Maybe, just maybe, if Sportscenter and other sporting news highlight shows received the real highlights, even a knockout once in a while, they would actually talk about the fight before it happened.  Sportscenter is essentially a big commercial for the sporting events that will take place that day or particular week.  This means millions of more people would be enticed to watching the fight or buying a PPV.  HBO, Showtime, Top Rank, DKP, Golden Boy, Dibella and all other boxing promoters out there are cutting there nose off to spite their face and it’s killing the sport.  UFC is kicking boxing’s ass because it runs highlights on basic cable night after night.  Inaccessibility killed boxing, nothing else.  Send comments to boxingtalk@gmail.comÂ
