Press Release: Promoter Michael Acri  announced today that Jesus Francisco “Panchito” Zepeda will rumble with “The Pittsburgh Kid,” undefeated former IBF lightweight champion P aul Spadafora in a ten-round junior welterweight bout.  Spadafora – returning for his first fight in over two years – will headline Acri’s 22nd annual Erie Boxing Classic, Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at The Avalon Hotel (16 West 10th Street) in Erie, Pa .  Spadafora’s (38-0-1, 15 KOs), ring return is the beginning of a personal quest to win another world title -- this time in the junior welterweight division.  He captured the IBF world lightweight title in 1999, upsetting Israel Cardona, winning a lopsided decision.  After successfully defending his world championship belt eight times during his four-year reign, he vacated the title to move up to the 140-pound division.  Zepada (16-3, 9 KOs), is a southpaw from Shelbyville, IN, by way of Cocula, Mexico.  “What a great Thanksgiving this will be,” said Zepeda from his training camp.  “I’m going to turn Spadafora’s ring return into his ring retirement.  Viva Zepeda!”  An undercard will be announced in the near future.  Remaining tickets can be purchased at The Avalon Hotel, Dee’s Cigar Store, Johnny’s Sports Bar and Ringside Restaurant.
