Spadafora to fight again in March

Edited Press Release: Former IBF lightweight champion Paul Spadafora, will fight for the second time since getting out of jail for shooting his girlfriend when he appears in a ten-round junior welterweight bout in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on Friday, March 9, 2007. The show will take place at the Soaring Eagle Casino, co-promoted by Mikle Acri and Carlos Llinas. No opponent has been announced yet for Spadafora (39-0-1, 16 KOs), who ended a two year hiatus from the ring last November, knocking out Panchita Zepeda in the fifth round.  Spadafora captured the IBF world lightweight title in 1999, upsetting Israel Cardona with a lopsided decision.  After successfully defending his world championship belt eight times during his four-year reign, he vacated the title to move up to the 140-pound division but jail time interrupted his career.
