Press Release: Welterweight Gilbert Venegas traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico this past Friday and battled tough veteran Jesus Soto-Karass to a draw on Telefutura’s Solo Boxeo. Said Venegas about the battle, “I was in great shape, mentally and physically for this bout. I had been in camp with Mike Arnaoutis for three weeks and then trained another three weeks for this fight. Soto-Karass is a terrific fighter and I’d love to get a rematch with him, it would be a great fight to have in Chicago.” With the draw Venegas’ record moves to 10-4-3 (7 KOs). Soto- Karass, a regular training partner of WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, has a record stands at 16-3-3 (13 KOs). The next 8 Count Productions show takes place this Friday night, June 1, 2007 at Cicero Stadium just outside Chicago.
