Team Combat League proudly announced the rosters today of the two teams facing off on March 29th at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun, the opening night of the league’s inaugural season. The New York City Attitude will be coached by Benny Roman and Ryan O’Leary facing off against the Los Angeles Ten Goose, coached by Ricky Funez. There are some familiar names on the roster, with the rules calling for one-round bouts. The LA roster lists Sean Garcia and Ashton Sylve, two undefeated lightweights. Sylve's career war previously linked to Jake Paul's MVP Promotions and he last fought on the undercard of Paul vs. Anderson Silva in October. At middleweight, LA lists Alejandro Silva (20-0-1), while New York has rostered Pete Dobson (16-0). At welterweight, LA has Vlad Panin (16-1) while New York names Jamshidbek Najmitdinov (18-2) among the eligible boxers. NOTE: The actual match-ups in Team Combat League are not known in advance because the coaches alternate in selecting the match-ups. A coach may match up one of three fighters in every weight class provided the matchups have been approved by the Boxing Commission. Spectators are therefore in the dark as to which fighter will fight who and when until the decision is made by coaches in real time. This uncertainty, combined with the fast paced three-minute round per boxer format results in constant action in which the spectator literally has no idea what is coming next.
“We are humbled and excited to be appearing in the historic first night Team Combat League Match action," Ricky Funez, LA Ten Goose coach declared. “No one is going to remember the loser of the first match. We intend to be remembered."
“We are looking forward to the challenge of facing a strong LA team in the opening night of Team Combat League action," NYC coach Ryan O’Leary countered. "We expect the depth of our team to overwhelm LA, however.”
“No West Coast Team is coming to our turf and stopping us from making history," Benny Roman, NYC Attitude coach added. "We are just too strong all through the roster for that to happen.”
