: As per the California Athletic Commission, Ishe Smith was given the okay to pursue other promotional avenues, as he is currently in arbitration with the promoters from, ‘The Contender’. Smith has no disrespect for any promoter, however, after many unfair situations have arisen, recently, he wants to try to restore his life and career.
Ishe's mission on The Contender was to restore the integrity of the sport he loves, and to provide for his family. Now, he wants to return to the real sport of boxing and with the help of a real promoter, make a serious impact on the sport of boxing, which he fell in love with over 18 years ago. He has trained with superstar boxers, including Fernando Vargas, and feels he can hold his own against anyone; he just needs an honest chance.
“I am very excited that the California Athletic Commission offers helping hands to protect the fighters, and work in the fighter’s best interest. Look for me to be fighting and making my mark again, very soon. I do not know who I will be working with, in the next couple of months; however, it is very well known, biblically, that even the prodigal son returned home, and achieved greatness. I am sure that God will resolve this current situation, in the end.” Smith had these remarks, after speaking with the Athletic Commission this morning.
