Thai boxers rarely fare well in big matches outside of Asia, but 122-pounder Somsak Sithchachawal bucked the trend when he won the WBA super bantamweight championship with a road win over Mahyar Monshipour in Paris. Monshipour, a French-based Iranian, was knocked down twice and stopped in the tenth round on Saturday. The new champion boasts an impressive 46-1-1 record.
