Shocker! Simpiwe Vetyeka stops Chris John for world featheweight championship

Simpiwe Vetyeka TKO6 Chris John:  Just one day after the death of the greatest South African in history, Nelson Mandela (a former amatuer boxer by the way), Simpiwe Vetyeka achieved a measure of greatness in South African boxing history by stopping world featherweight champion Chris John. South African rarely win titles outside of their home country, but Vetyeka was the exception in Western Australia on Friday. Already the IBO champion, Vetyeka added John's WBA super championship, as well as the true world championship, which John acquired from Juan Manuel Marquez back in 2006. John suffered the first pro loss of a probable Hall of Fame career, falling to 48-1-1. Vetyeka is now 26-2, with the losses coming in a bantamweight title bid vs. Hozumi Hasegawa in 2007, and to an unknown South African named Klaas Mboyane last year. It remains to be seen if John had a rematch clause in the bout contract. source: foxnews.com
