Bernard Dunne remained undefeated and improved to 14-0 as he squeaked by Adrian Valdez winning a unanimous decision in a close competitive fight. Valdez gave Dunne all he could handle and perhaps then some, though Dunne showed grit and kept coming after eating a lot of leather. The fight could have gone either way, the judges had it 96-95, 96-94 and97-93 for Dunne. Velardez Hands Vanda First Loss: Junior middleweight Armando Velardez handed local hero Matt "The Predator" Vanda his first loss. Velardez controlled the action throughout and floored Vanda in the eighth round. He beat the count but the referee waved the bout off without any protests from the Vanda camp.
