Kameda Family Disgraced After Committing Multiple Fouls in Title Bid
BREAKING NEWS: The father and trainer of Koki and Daiki Kameda has quit as a boxing coach. Shiro Kameda tendered his resignation at the Kyoei Gym, Japan's largest boxing facility which also had a contract with the family. Although Shiro has led his son Koki to 16-0 with 11 knockouts and possibly on the verge of a title fight in the flyweight division, Shiro and son Daiki have disgraced themselves in the eyes of the Japanese boxing commission and many boxing fans. When Daiki was challenging WBC flyweight champion Daisuke Naito for his title on October 11th, the Kameda’s resorted to very dirty tactics when it was clear they were going to lose their title bid. At the encouragement of his father, Daiki body slammed Naito to the ground on at least 3 separate occasions among many other fouls. In a country where honor and dignity take significant precedent, the Kameda’s were disgraced almost immediately. Daiki and Shiro were both suspended by the Japanese boxing commission for the incident. Before this event occurred, Daiki’s brother Koki was Japan’s most popular athlete bringing in sometimes a 60% TV ratings share during his fights, this popularity will almost certainly diminish. Source: Gulf News Daily BahrainÂ
