Sheeraz atones for fouls by offering Skeete a rematch

Hamzah Sheeraz TKO9 Bradley Skeete... British junior middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz offered Bradley Skeete (29-4) a rematch after Sheeraz's ninth-round stoppage of Skeete was aided by Sheeraz hitting Skeete when he was down in round eight. Sheeraz (14-0) said the blows were not intentional: "I have seen some of the comments circulating on social media. Some are directed at myself and referee Steve Gray. I said during my post-fight interview and now after watching it back, I did appear to hit Bradley Skeete while he was down but this was not and would never be an intentional act. Things happen during any combat sport but above all else, and especially in boxing, we have to remember this is a sport of gentlemen. Bradley Skeete boxed superbly and must be feeling aggrieved that his performance did not bear fruit, but I am not and will never be a cheat. I can see that an unintentional foul could have cost me the fight and then I would be the one asking for redemption. Based on this, the only honorable thing to do, and to put matters to rest, is to offer Bradley Skeete a rematch. There’s not a rematch clause in the contract. This is me asking my team to make the fight so that there is no controversy or criticism going forward. To get where I am going, I can leave no stone unturned and no question marks on my record. Therefore providing the British Board of Boxing Control and of course Bradley‘s team are in agreement, we will rematch in early 2022 and hopefully this will settle any controversy once and for all. May the best man win.
