Shane Mosley wants Carlos Baldomir in June

"If Floyd manages to get by Oscar and he wants a fight, I'll be sure to retire him!'

GL: Can you give us some thoughts on your recent victory over Luis Collazo? "I thought it was a pretty good performance being that Collazo is a younger guy and he's a slick southpaw. He's a good boxer and I give him a lot of respect because he took some great shots. He came to fight and he fought hard. He barely even buckled with some of those shots so I think he did a great job for himself."

GL: When can we expect to see you back in the ring and against who?

Shane Mosley: "I hope to fight again in June. Being that Mayweather and Oscar are teamed up together, Margarito and Williams will fight each other and Cotto will fight Judah, the fight that I wanted to fight before was Carlos Baldomir. Kermit Cintron is still in litagation with contractual problems and Golden Boy isn't going to really deal with that, so I guess the best option out there is Baldomir."

GL: So will Baldomir be the guy you look to solidify your June date with?

SM: "Yeah, I want to get a fight in and stay busy and then see what happens. There's a lot of great fights out there and I want to see who wins which fights and try to line myself up for something big after that."

GL: Who do you like in Cotto-Judah?

SM: "Judah has good hand speed, power and he's a southpaw. Chop Chop Corley gave Cotto a lot of problems and rocked him. But Judah's been off for a while too. With Zab you never know which one is going to show up. Will it be the one who showed up for Carlos Baldomir or the one that showed up for Cory Spinks?"

GL: Ricky Hatton is another big name fighter around welterweight. If he gets by Castillo and wants to come up to 147 is he someone you'd look to get it on with?

SM: "Oh yeah. When Hatton fought Collazo you saw what happened. I would love to fight him but I think he realized that he has no business in the 147 pound division."

GL: If you end up fighting Baldomir it's just a matter of him being the best guy available, correct?

SM: "Yeah. And I don't want to call this guy a tune-up or anything because he is a tough fighter. Zab Judah thought he was a tune-up. He wobbled Zab and he knocked Gatti out so he's not somebody to play with. Speed did give him problems with Mayweather and that's the only reason I called him a tune-up. He's going to be a tough fight for me to keep myself sharp."

GL: And since Mayweather, Judah and Gatti didn't put a dent in him, I imagine you figure stopping him would be a great look for you?

SM: "Definitely. He's shown what kind of fighter he is and I look forward to going to war with him and putting myself in harms way so we can have a nice fight."

GL: I spoke with Mayorga recently and he said he wants to fight at welterweight again. If that's true, is that something you'd entertain since that fight was scheduled to take place before Mayorga lost to Spinks?

SM: "Definitely. It's definitely a fight that people want to see and I'll take it. I think Mayorga is a great fighter and he's definitely coming to fight. He's a really big guy so I don't think he'd be able to make 147 but anything is possible guess."

GL: Do you have a specific date in June yet?

SM: "Not yet, but I want to talk with Richard Schaefer and the guys from HBO to find out which date will be the best available."

GL: If Mayweather beats De La Hoya and doesn't retire, would you still want 50-50 to fight him?

SM: "I don't think he's going to beat Oscar, but if he manages to win against Oscar and he wants to fight me I'll retire him."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

SM: "I'm still here and I'm still going to be putting on these exciting fights. Hopefully in June you're going to get another glimpse of the Sugarman."
