GL: The last time we spoke you expressed interest in fighting Carlos Baldomir. Yesterday afternoon former junior middlweight champion Kassim Ouma issued a press release saying he would be willing to move down to welterweight to fight you. Where is the Baldomir fight at and how do you feel about fighting Kassim Ouma? "If Ouma can make 147 pounds, that would be a fight that I'd take. I'm willing to fight anyone at 147. The Baldomir fight is still being talked about, but Ouma is a tough fighter and if he can make welterweight I'll definitely consider it."
GL: Which fight would you prefer Carlos Baldomir or Kassim Ouma?
Shane Mosley: "Personally I would prefer to fight Baldomir, but if people want to see me fight Kassim Ouma, I'll fight Kassim Ouma. It's not a problem for me, it's like I told you one at a time, I'm going to fight all of these guys so they're all going to get it anyway."
GL: Kassim told me that he feels he's going to be stronger than you are at welterweight. How do you feel about that?
Shane Mosley: "A lot of people talk, but I guess we'd have to wait until the two of us are in the same ring to see which one of us is stronger at welterweight."
GL: Is an Ouma fight easier to make than Baldomir since the two of you are promoted by Golden Boy?
SM: "It should be easier to make. I'm always ready to do my part. All they have to do is talk and get their figures right and if it's the fight HBO wants let's get it on."
GL: So if HBO lets it be known that their preference is Ouma, is that the fight you take?
SM: "Absolutely. If they express interest in that fight, it's no problem to me. I'm all for fighting the best out there."
GL: Is there anything more specific than a June date?
SM: "I probably might not be fighting in June, because HBO wants me to fight Mayweather if he beats Oscar, so some of the other stuff that we were talking about is not going to happen on schedule. HBO wants me to fight Mayweather after Oscar fights him so that's what happening now. I like the Ouma fight, I like the Baldomir fight, but it's all up to what HBO wants to do."
GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
SM: "I'm on a mission to prove that I'm the best fighter in the world and I'm going to fight the best one by one, until everyone feels the same way."
