WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson will not be able to defend his title in October after suffering a hand injury and undergoing emergency surgery. The undefeated Stevenson was scheduled to defend against former junior lightweight champion Joe Cordina, as part of the October 12th card also featuring the undisputed light heavyweight championship fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. “God works in mysterious ways through the ups and downs. I’m hungry and more motivated than ever. 2024 has been my best year yet. The surgery went great, it’s a small setback to a great comeback,” Stevenson wrote on his social media.
