Shakur Stevenson firms up WBO title shot

Shakur Stevenson, a former 126-pound title holder, is going to fight Namibia's Jeremiah Nakathila on June 12th. At the very least, that fight wil be for the WBO 130-pound interim title. Champion Jamel Herring, who is deservedly celebrating Saturday's career-best win over Carl Frampton has been put on the spot by the WBO. In a ruling issued by the WBO, Herring must declare within thirty days whether he will fight the Stevenson-Nakathila winner or vacate the title. If Herring intends to face the winner (which is considered doubtful as he may move up to lightweight or face WBC 130-pound champion Oscar Valdez), that fight is supposed to take place by September 31st.
