Scribes to be plied with free booze at UK press conference!

Press Release: Super middleweight contender Carl Froch will meet repsected Sergey Tatevosyan this weekend in hopes that a victory will propel him into a world title eliminator. The bout will take place on March 23, 2007 at England's Nottingham Arena, but two days earlier a final press conference will be held for the bout in Nottingham's Revolution Vodka Bar. Scheduled to be held just before lunchtime, the press conference will treat those journalists who show up at 11:30 AM on Wednesday to "free shots of Russian Vodka!"  [Editors, be sure to check your stories for typos]. While the vodka is being distributed all in good fun, the fight is very meaningful for Froch, who at 20-0, is on the verge of a title shot. Tickets are available on 0870 121 0123. Meanwhile, Froch's promoter, promoter Mick Hennessy announced the signing of British lightweight champion Jon Thaxton to a long-term deal. Thaxton, 32, stopped Scott Lawton in the seventh round on Friday to retain his title.  “It’s really exciting news for me,” said Thaxton. “Now I'm with Mick Hennessy anything could happen. I've said to him you line up, I'll knock them down. The Sky is the limit.” Hennessy is hoping to secure a European title opportunity for Thaxton.
