Sauerland Event, one of Germany's major boxing promoters, has announced the signing of Alexander Povetkin, the gold medal winning super heavyweight at the Athens Olympics last year.  Povetkin will waste no time turning pro, as his debut is already scheduled for Saturday on the Timo Hoffman-Paolo Vidoz
show in Kempten, Germany. The original opponent for Povetkin, however, pulled out, so Sauerland's matchmaker is still searching for a replacement. Povetkin, 25 years old, also has won a world amateur championship and two European championships.
