On August 18, fight fans nationwide will be able to take in the exciting action live, as Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing is pleased to announce that the MSG Network will be televising their annual boxing show at the Saratoga Springs City Center in Saratoga, New York.
The spectacular Star Boxing, in association with Pugnacious Promotions, night of boxing will feature a pair of tough New York heavyweights in separate bouts.
In the 10-round main event, crowd-pleasing slugger Vinny Maddalone (26-3, 19 KOs), one of the most exciting fighters in all of boxing, will continue his comeback against durable, iron-jawed gate keeper Jermell Barnes (17-12-1, 4 KOs) of Rochester.
The charismatic Flushing, New York, puncher Maddalone has put on several thrilling exhibitions of guts and heart and promises that on August 18, the expected sell-out crowd and national television audience can expect more of the same. Barnes, the former NABO Champion, is no stranger to tough action either, having faced a who’s who of world-class fighters and gone the distance with all of them.
Also scheduled for battle will be once-beaten Shannon Miller (14-1, 8 KOs), of nearby Troy, New York. Miller, whose only loss was in a heart-stopping war with Maddalone, will face Star Boxing’s own deadly and unbeaten Malachy Farrell (14-0, 11 KOs), of Chicago in a guaranteed barn-burner of a heavyweight scrap.
“We’re really excited the Saratoga event is being broadcast live on the MSG Network,” said a happy DeGuardia. “It’s a terrific night of boxing that boxing fans should not miss.”
Also on the card are Albany’s undefeated super lightweight Wayland Willingham (9-0, 5 KOs), Highland, NY’s Hervey “The Godfather” Medina (6-0-1, 2 KOs), Kingston, NY’s comebacking veteran Brandon Mitchem (24-4-1, 8 KOs), Troy, NY’s as well as a slew of other exciting fighters.
“We love the opportunity every year to bring world-class boxing to the home of world-class thoroughbreds, and now, thanks to the MSG Network, we can share the excitement with the rest of the country. When you’ve got a thrill machine like Vinny Maddalone headlining a card and a battle between two heavies with only one loss between them as the chief support, with an undercard full of promising local favorites, it makes for a can’t miss night of action.”
