Santos searches for new foe!

WBO junior middleweight champ Daniel Santos is rearranging his plans now that his potential opponent, Cory Spinks, has signed with a rival promoter. “The fight with Spinks is cancelled, at least for the moment,” Santos ' advisor, Juan Manuel Gonzalez, told the Latin media. Santos recently signed a promotional contract with Don King. “I just finished speaking with [a Don King employee who] informed us that that was the situation,” continued Gonzalez.  The silver lining for Santos is that a bout with Spinks would have come in October, but now he may see action as soon as the first week in September. “It’s actually better this way because a fight with Spinks wouldn’t take place until October 1. This way Santos can fight again by January.”

The new promoter on the block, Bobby Bostick insisted that Spinks, the former undisputed welterweight champ, has no interest in fighting Santos. “The fight with Santos is what Don King was using to try to hold Cory back,” said Bostick, “but the reality is that Cory was already a free agent and had already decided to leave (King).  I don’t have anything against Don. He’s a boxing legend and a gentleman,” said Bostick, “but I’m also coming into my own as a promoter.” Bostick told a reporter that he is trying to make a fight between Spinks and Shane Mosley, but so far he hasn’t succeeded. “I already made Shane an offer he couldn’t refuse but he refused it anyway,” said Bostick with a laugh. – Ramon Rodriguez Santos searches for new foe!
